Colored Cat Eye Makeup Tutorial
The look of a classic cat eye is timeless, and though it's usually created with a black
liner, it doesn't always have to be. Let's inject a little color into this look, shall
we?
We're going to start off by lining the eye with a black, gel liner. I prefer gel eyeliner,
as opposed to liquid because it gives a great natural looking finish. We're starting with
a black liner in order to create depth and make the lash line stand out.
Start by creating a thin line that is as close to the lash line as possible. Run the brush
along until you reach the end of eye.
For the wing effect, swoop the brush in an upward motion, to create the cat eye. Then
define the line, by switching your angled brush to the other side moving it back towards
the lash line.
Next up, we're going to add our pop of color! When choosing a color to apply, try sticking
with a powder eye shadow. Powder is easier to work with when creating a cat eye, and
it's a lot easier to clean up if you happen to make a mistake.
As for what colors to try? I love bright blues for a fun twist, deep purple for those with
brown eyes, an olive or green shade for hazel eyes and of course navy to flatter those with
blue eyes.
Start by wetting your angled eyeliner brush with a bit of water and then place it directly
into the eye shadow, loading your brush with the color. The water will intensify the pigment,
making the eye shadow stand out. It will also make the product last longer.
Place the brush directly on top of your black eyeliner, and use this as a guideline as you
move it across the eye, finishing with a "wing".
Repeat this process until you get the right amount of color and shadow on the lash line.
And that's it! A fresh new take on the ever-so-classic cat eye. I'm Christina Marrale for WorldLifestyle.com,
