>> Jesse: We're in the Securities
Analysis Center.
I currently have one class which is FInance 4220
Applied Securities where we analyze stocks
and actually have a real-time portfolio.
We are working with real money,
so it's real money, real decisions.
Of this semester, we have out-performed S&P 500
by about 3 percent overall.
On the monitors behind me are the, they are new this year to
the school of business, one of these screens has the
major indexes, in addition to, we have our class's portfolio
and the holdings in it.
Behind me also is a stock ticker that has various large companies
that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange
and many of them end up being proposals for our portfolio.
The Student Investment Society, we meet once a week.
It's open to all majors, anyone that is interested
in investing, and we all get together
and use our research that we come up with independently
to pitch to the class.
We end up voting on stocks that are both winning and losing.
It is tough to sell a stock when it is up,
and it is just hard to sell a stock when it is down.
This experience is really invaluable to me personally.
It is going to be very helpful in my future career.
Simple things, such as being able to get in front of groups
and very confidently pitch my ideas and be confident
in my own research and abilities.
