A lot of these babies have been here for months and months have been down in the Intensive Care
where there's lots of noise technology a lot of things that we
have to do to them to help them survive.
Saint Luke's has been using Terry Woodford's baby sleep tapes
for about seven years.
They help the babies get into a deeper sleep, where they conserve calories
and their oxygen levels go up
and they develop a better sleep pattern.
The tapes also come in handy after you take the baby home from the hospital.
Terry says babies like music that's simple,
repetitious, structured, predictable with consistent rhythm and harmony.
So probably the worst thing you could play to calm your baby
is classical or new age music.
