Yeah, I have not spoken specifically to individual members on this topic, my simple answer to
any member of Congress and the President of the United States, and when I say members of
Congress, regardless of their party is just solve this. This is just a bad answer. I think
Michigan is a great model to show how it can be done successfully. We had a billion and
a half dollar deficit, we had two or three years prior to taking office where we had
government shutdowns, so we had a mess. We came in did tax reform, balanced the budget,
have dont that several years successfully; we're paying down our debt. I would hope they
can do the same thing. So, I would use a phrase I use quite often, called Relentless Positive
Action. I would appreciate if Washington might consider stop blaming and stop taking credit,
get in a room, solve the problem and keep moving foward. Governor as the shutdown continues
the debt ceiling fight is the next big thing that is approcahing, what concerns do you
have that could happen if that's not met in and do you see that having a bigger effect
on Michigan than the current shutdown is having? I would hope to the degree the resolving this
issue on just coninuing, doing the continuing resolution or not shutting down the government,
I would hope they'd also deal with the debt question because the point of solving something
and to have another crisis in a week or two is ridicudlous. Let's solve the problem and,
again, the perspective I would give you is I think it would be best if people would stop doing
press conferences two miles apart or on different ends of a building and just get in the same
room and close the door and work it out.
