Hi everybody. I'm Dr. David Reath and I'm here to discuss this week's Truth-O-Meter
Tuesday question. Well some of you asked for perhaps a more
challenging question, and I thought we came up with a more challenging question, but I
guess not since pretty much everybody got it right.
There was one wrong answer and one absentia. But what we were talking about was this: that
there is more silicone detectible in breast milk of someone with silicone implants than
there is in formula that you can buy for your child off the shelf.
And the answer is false. Studies have been done, and actually there
is more silicone that is in the formula that you buy in the store than might be in the
breast milk of women who have silicone breast implants.
Just another interesting factoid sort of supporting the fact that silicone implants are safe and
they're effective and really they are becoming our go-to implant.
About 80% of our patients who are candidates for silicone implants are now choosing them.
Anyway, let's find out who this week's winner is.
Tammy Hayes. Tammy, congratulations, you're this week's winner. So we have a $100 gift
card for you--come on into the office, pick that up. And for everyone else, thanks for
playing. We'll have a special Truth-O-Meter Tuesday coming to you from New Orleans next
week, where we'll be at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons meeting.
See you then.
