Ebay is the 2nd largest online marketplace Amazon is obviously the biggest player!
But there’s one huge difference between them
Ebay is a haven for scammers and fraudsters Both sellers and buyers can cross the line
There’s one way everybody can get free things It’s simple, yet Ebay can’t stop it
Note: This video is just to expose the scam This can be done by anyone in world
1.
Buy things for less than €4 ($5) 2.
Wait 1 week after estimated delivery 3.
Then tell the seller it hasn’t arrived That’s all, but here are the details...
It’s cheaper to send non-tracked parcels Tracking packages cost a lot extra
Sometimes it can cost €3 to track Put together with Ebay + PayPal fees…
Sellers simply can’t afford to track cheap sales
They would lose money or make no profit Buyers avoid opening too many cases
Ebay flags accounts that cause such issues If sellers refuse to refund the buyer
Buyers can threaten with negative feedback Feedback directly affects sellers’ accounts
They can lose their ‘Top-Rated’ status And their listings will appear lower in results
So why do people get away so easy?
Creating new accounts on Ebay is easy Buyers can sign-up without verification
It’s unlikely for Ebay to restrict accounts Unless too many cases are opened
So one by one, you can get things for free But there are risks to this scam
Sellers can report lost parcels to couriers The more reports, the more suspicious
Couriers are known to file lawsuits Even against their own customers
If they have enough evidence of fraud However, it’s still hard to confirm
So most scammers get away with it And sellers are forced to take the hit
Ebay and PayPal do return the fees But sellers lose the item and postage cost
In January 2018, a British postman was caught…
Stealing parcels he was meant to deliver Royal Mail placed a tracker on one package
Which led them back to the postman’s home He sold £15,000 of stolen goods on Ebay
He was sentenced to 15 months in jail And had to pay all the money back
