First, open the "Renoid starter pack",
and install the tool called "Words Pad for Renoid" which is included in the pack.
To install, just drag and drop the file on Renoise.
Also, install the pitch-shift VST, for example "KeroVee".
In Renoise, you can set your VST folder on the "Preferences" panel
at the top in the "Plugin/Misc" tab.
Simply specify your VST folder here.
STEP 1 Making a Group Track
let's make a group track to use Renoid easily.
Hold "left ALT key" and grab the track name portion by mouse
and drag and drop on a track on the left.
The left track is for words, and the right track is for melody.
Since we use the melody track as somewhat special, it's a good idea to set the background color to it.
STEP 2 Inputting Melody using temporary VSTi
Next, enter melody data by using a temporary VSTi.
Load a VSTi from the plugin list in the "Instrument Settings".
Since we would like to only check melody sound, it doen't matter any VSTi.
Well then, turn the edit mode on and enter melody data.
If you want to insert new pattern, click the "+" button on the sequencer.
(This is a rooters' song of a famous baseball player, haha.)
STEP 3 Inputting Words (not melodic yet)
Let's input words now.
Select empty slot and load a Renoid voice file as you like.
Here, I'll load a male voice "Jutero".
And open the context menu on the pattern editor,
start "Words Pad for Renoid" tool which you already installed at first.
There is the "Editstep" setting here,
this is related to arrow keys on the "Words Pad".
If you set "2", you can move two lines per every one click on the arrow keys.
Then, turn the edit mode on, input the words.
Btw, you can input the words by hitting MIDI keyboard directly too, it's too hard to play though.
Still the words were molody-less though, the input was completed.
STEP 4 Insert Pitch-Shifter to the Words Track and Set FX Alias
OK, let's insert the pitch-shifter VST to the Words track.
Open the "Track DSPs", load g200kg's "KeroVee".
And, select the temporary VSTi which you used a while ago,
open "Instrument Settings" and exchange the VSTi to "VST FX Alias".
There is "VST FX Alias" on the top of the list and when you open it, you can select; KeroVee (Track:00 Device:01)
Now, the melody data which inputted a while ago will be transmitted to KeroVee.
Since the change from step 3 to step 4 is important, I've made the explanation image.
Although words and melody were outputted by the separate flow in Step 3,
In Step 4, the two tracks join together and they produced one audio flow as "singing".
Since this is the most important part of Renoid, please understand it well.
STEP 5 Changing Voice Character and Octave
There is a *** labeled "Speed" here.
This determines the change speed of pitch. If you set it to "0", pitch shift becomes quite loose.
It will be a natural change if it is set around "50".
The "Formant Shift" *** changes voice charactor like this.
If you want to change the octave of the melody track,
open Advanced Edit panel here,
select "Track in Song" for range specification,
and use these "Transpose" buttons.
STEP 6 Adding Chorus Part
Next, this is explanation of liking to add a chorus part.
Let's make a group track first.
Hold left ALT key and grab the track name portion by mouse,
then drag and drop on the track on the left.
The left is a Words track, the right is a melody track.
Let's set the background color to the melody track.
Since the words may completely be the same as the lead vocal,
you can copy them by using pattern matrix.
With holding left CTRL key, select all words data slots by mouse,
And holding left CTRL key again, copy them to the new track by doing drag and drop.
About chorus melody, you need to input manually.
So, select an empty slot and load temporary VSTi.
Turn the edit mode on, and input melody.
Now the chorus melody has been inputted.
So insert "KeroVee" to the Words track,
then, exchange the temporary VSTi to "VST FX Alias".
This time, you can find 2 FX Aliases of KeroVee though, select below in this case.
Let's change octave too.
STEP 7 Exchanging Voice file
Well then, let's exchange only the voice file of the chours.
This number "01" means "Jutero" which is in the 01 instrument slot.
Select new "04" slot and load a famale voice called "Hana".
If you change these all "01" numbers on the chorus track to "04", the chorus voice will be Hana.
Select "Track in Song" here,
use this function of "Instruments".
Set the upper number to "01", and set the lower number to "04",
then press [Swap] button.
Now the chorus has been exchanged to Hana.
Let's change the octave of Hana.
Oh sorry. I forgot to move the cursor to the melody track.
Now it's all right.
