Colorectal cancer remains the number two cancer killer in the United States
with approximately
140,000 Americans that includes both men and women
being diagnosed yearly with almost 50,000 dying from this very deadly disease.
With both men and women being affected almost equally, colorectal cancer
screening is recommended to
start at age 50 for both, African-Americans however are recommended to start screening
by age 45.
Colonoscopy is the only screening modality able to remove a pre-cancerous
growths also known as polyps, thereby preventing the formation
of most colon cancers.
If you have yet to have a colonoscopy or it has been in many years since your last colonoscopy
the physicians at New Jersey Associates in Medicine strongly recommend you to make
an appointment to further discuss
screening and hopefully preventing this very deadly disease
known as colorectal cancer.
