Hi! I am Beverly for Expert Village. In this clip, we are going to be talking about red
flags for boarding facilities. The most important thing in a boarding facility is that it be
clean. There are too many dogs in their care for it not to be cleaned often. Viruses and
disease can spread quickly. Ask them how often they clean. Make sure you are comfortable
with the space your pet will inhabit. Is the temperature regulated appropriately and is
there good ventilation? Make sure you understand exactly what they offer in terms of exercise,
food and play time. Can your dog remain on his regular food or will he eat the house
brand? Meet the people who will be taking care of your pet and watch them in action.
Are you comfortable with the way they treat the pets? Do they seem happy and cheerful
when they interact with the animals? Find out what kinds of vaccinations are required
and if your pet will need to be flea free when he enters the facility. Visit several
facilities, compare their rates and their services and make an informed decision. And
as always, trust your gut. If you have any reservations or any bad feelings about the
place you are leaving your pet before you leave on vacation, it can ruin your entire
trip. So make sure you are comfortable with the people and the caretakers that are going
to be involved in your pets care.
