ReggieNet: How to Make an Audio Recording Assessment
One of the tools that instructors often utilize in ReggieNet is the giving of tests or quizzes.
ReggieNet offers 8 types of questions. In this video, we will look at how to develop
an Audio Recording question for a test or quiz.
To start out, click on Tests & Quizzes in the left hand side of your ReggieNet course.
Enter a title for your new assessment in the text box to the right of Create assessment.
And then, click on Create.
The new screen that appears will be the place where you create your assessment. To begin,
select Audio Recording from the select a question type drop down menu.
In the Answer Point Value box, enter the point value you want to assign to this question.
For an ungraded response, leave it as a 0.
In the Question Text box, enter the question. You can click on Show/hide Rich-Text Editor
if you want to adjust your text.
If you want to add an attachment, you can click Add Attachment and then browse for the item
on your computer, on a website, or from the Resources and Materials sections of any of
your ReggieNet courses. In the Time allowed box, enter the number
of seconds permitted to a student to record an answer. And then list Number of attempts the student is allowed.
If you have multiple parts of a test or quiz, you can choose which section of the test this
Audio question will be assigned to. Leave the entry as the default value if
you have not created any parts. If you want to assign this question to a question pool,
select the name of the desired pool from the Assign to question pool pull-down list.
In the Feedback box, enter appropriate feedback to participants, if desired.
Click on Save
This takes you back to the particular assessment you are working on. From here, you can repeat
the above steps to add additional Audio Recording questions, or you can add different types
of questions.
When you are done adding questions, you can click on Settings where you can make a wide
variety of choices about such things as when students will be able to see or take the assessment,
whether or not you will set a time limit on answering the questions, how many times the
student can submit the assessment, etc.... There is more information available about
the Settings options in the video "How to Set Up a Quiz or Test". When you are done
with the Settings, you can either click on Save Settings if you are not done with the
exam, or if you want to publish it, you can click on Save Settings and Publish.
If you come back to work on the assessment at a later point, you can choose Settings
or Publish from the drop down menu in the Select Action drop down menu by the assessment
you're working on. You can follow the directions from there to publish it so that it is available
for students to view.
If you have any additional questions, please contact The Center for Teaching, Learning
and Technology. You can also find more videos and handouts on our website at ctlt.illinoisstate.edu.
Thank you very much and have a great day!
