In memory of Major general Harold Greene
patrons took time to reflect on this Soldier's journey who influenced the hearts of many
We gather this morning, we remember Harry Greene
whose earthly journey is now over, a man who was success
a man who shared his life, his goodness, his wisdom with so many people
During a routine visit in Kabul, Afghanistan General Greene was killed by an Afghan soldier
It was always about those around him
most common thing I hear about him is, He's a two-star with all these things
going on yet, he knows who I am and he always stops to talk to me
Near 40 years of devoted military service
General Greene's accomplishments were known by all who served with him
but Harry was more than a Soldier, he was a great man
caring father a devoted husband
and a loyal friend, he had a passion for his family
to escape what some would call the pressures of this job
the general would often mingle with fellow troops and simply enjoy their company
Gen. Greene never had a day in that office that he wasn't upbeat and positive
he found humor in most things and would take the opportunity to lighten the mood any chance he had
he was always good for a joke but mostly would just use his quick wit to banter with
the officers and staff and he could take it as good as he gave it
General Greene's good-hearted nature
was reflected in his work
and the people whose lives he touched
He truly loved what he was doing, Harry was a gifted mentor to so many subordinate
whose career he guided and shaped
