Fundraising has already begun
for the three Australian kapa haka who were victorious
at the qualifiers held this year in Sydney.
While money is an issue for the three kapa that made it,
they can't wait to strut their stuff
at Te Matatini 2015.
Anzac Pikia is in Sydney.
Sydney played host
to the Australian National Kapa Haka Festival,
But a team from Perth took the victory.
For Manawa Mai Tawhiti, champions of Australia -
it was a piece of cake.
Easy, easy as.
That's what I thought anyway.
Te Raranga Whanui, a Sydney-based group,
were winners last competition,
but bridesmaids this time around.
Really good.
I was proud to see
my partner up on stage
because today is all about being Maori
here in Sydney, Australia.
Turanga Ake is from Brisbane
and competed at Te Matatini last year.
We'll see them again onstage in 2015.
These three groups will represent Australia
at Te Matatini 2015.
Their long journey to Christchurch starts with fundraising.
It's hoped the next Australian qualifiers in 2016
will be held in Perth.
At the end of this month,
Te Tai Rawhiti will hold their regionals.
