Sometimes you may want to know what the library has by a particular author. First, choose
author from the drop-down menu, then enter the name of the author, last name first, in
the search box.
While entering the last name first is similar to what you do in a subject search, they do
very different things. An author search for Mark Twain, for example, will find works by
Twain, while a subject search will find books about Twain.
Here, for example, are the books by Mark Twain in the Upstate Library. Be sure to check the
location, call number and availability before heading to the shelves.
If you type in a partial name for an author search, such as the last name or the last
name and first initial, you will get a list of authors that share that name with the number
of items for each. In this case, click on the name of the author you want to see a list
of books.
