So, what is LEED? LEED stands for “leadership and energy in environmental design”. The LEED Green Building Rating System was developed by
the U.S. Green Building Council as a framework for green design and construction. The credit that we’ll be working on throughout this lesson is LEED EQ
credit 8.1. It specifies that there must be a minimum of 2% of daylight throughout 75% of the occupied space. The 2% is what’s called a
“daylight factor” and it is a ratio of exterior to interior lighting. LEED credit 8.1 specifies the minimum credit of 2%, which is what we’re
going to measure for in this lesson.
