Erik: How are your family relationships changing as you get older?
Garren: I've got a very small family. You know, it's mom, stepdad, dad, stepmom, I don't
have any siblings or anything like that. I really think it's changing more for them.
You know, in my 20s, they were really the anchor, or the center point and I would come
to them, whether it be the holidays or travel or whatever it may be, they tended to be the
magnet in the center. And as my relationship has grown, especially now that I've become
engaged and certainly, you know, moving to marriage and children and whatnot, there's
a shift or at least I'm seeing it's trending towards my immediate family, my wife and I
becoming kind of the magnet in the center. And my family more coming to us, my mom's
gonna retire in the next year or two, and they want to be—they wanna be close. They
wanna be there to support and also enjoy everything that, you know, is gonna blossom from, you
know, from my relationship and so that's neat to see that—basically inversion from me
going to them to them coming to us.
