Hey, it’s Marlee from MarleeWard.com
helping you become a self employed superstar.
Today, I want to talk to you about the frustration that you might feel
as a solopreneur when you see the success of others.
I know sometimes it’s really difficult when you’re working towards what you feel to be
your life’s work or your greatest passion
and seems like you’re not making a lot of tractions.
It seems like you’re not getting a lot of momentum.
And sometimes, especially if you’re looking around you too much,
it can seem like everyone else has it a lot easier than you do.
A lot of times, I’m even guilty of seeing these incredibly successful entrepreneurs
and thinking, “When will I have that level of success?
Why hasn’t it happened for me already?”
And the thing is is that we forget that we don’t see everything that’s happened
and everything that’s occurred to that very moment.
When I was experiencing some of this,
what I did was I went back and I looked at some of these entrepreneurs’ biographies,
and what I saw consistently was that on an average,
it took most of these people between four and seven years
to reach the level of success that they currently have.
The other thing that I realized
was that so much of what we perceive
is very different than the reality of things
and such as because someone appears to be successful
doesn’t necessarily mean that they are.
I think what’s more important is my definition of success
may be vastly different from theirs.
And so, perhaps they don’t even see themselves as successful.
Or maybe if I really saw all the inner workings of their life,
I wouldn’t think they’re so successful after all.
But sometimes, this comparison game that we play,
which is really the enemy of our contentment,
leads us to have this type of frustration
that serves as a block in us being able to take action
and truly be productive.
And so, what I want to encourage you to do
is instead of comparing yourself to the place where you want to be,
start playing exactly where you are.
I like to use a baseball analogy.
I don’t particularly care for baseball that much.
I really love sports,
but I don’t care about baseball that much.
I just thought it was a good example.
So, you know that they have such a thing as the minor leagues.
And then of course, they have such a thing as the major leagues.
And maybe you’re a minor league player right now,
but you know what, that’s awesome.
You’re playing the game,
and your goal should be to play in the minor leagues
as big and as a bad as you can,
because when you do that,
you automatically level up.
And when you do that, you automatically set yourself up
to play in the major leagues eventually.
So, I want to challenge you today.
If you’re frustrated with where you are in your business,
if you feel like you’re not growing
or you’re not where you should be or you really want to be,
then start thinking about how you can play a bigger and better game right where you are.
What can you do today to help yourself be more of exactly who you want to be?
And I think that if you start focusing on that,
a lot of that comparison game is going to dissipate.
And more than that, you’re going to feel more fulfilled,
because you’re going to know that you’re working towards your purpose.
After all, that’s what most of us want.
