Are you pregnant and considering adoption? My name is Robin Fleischner
and I'd like to share with you a Birth Mother's Bill of Rights
which I've composed in the course of over 25 years as an adoption attorney
speaking with thousands of birth mothers. You have the right to be treated with
respect and compassion
throughout the adoption process. You have the right to understand
all your options including adoption, foster care,
and parenting your child. You have the right to obtain
prenatal medical care. You have the right to obtain counseling.
You have the right to choose the adoptive parents for your child. You have
the right to meet
and interview the adoptive parents. You have the right
to make sure that the adoptive parents are legally qualified to adopt
under the laws have their state. You have the right to be represented by an
attorney
at no cost to you. You have the right
to obtain assistance with your expenses. You have the right
to make sure and know that your adoption
is safe and legal. yYou have the right to choose
the kind of adoption that you pursue whether it's
open, semi-open or closed. I hope that
this Bill of Rights will assist you
in making the best for your unborn child.
