Day 1 - Discopath relaxes at the skatepark
Hi, I am Jeremie, I play Duane Lewis, the Discopath
This is the first day of shooting,
the weather was suppose to be nice but it is cloudy. We are in Jarry's skatepark and the scene we are about to shoot,
takes place after my first psychotic experience. I come to relax at the skatepark,
and Valerie, a childhood friend, recognizes me and start flirting with me.
She decides to take me to her place so that we can get ready to go to a party at a discotheque
which is where the first *** will occur.
Day 2 - Discopath goes dancing
Hi I am Katherine, we are on the set of Discopath, day 3 in Montreal and I play the role of Valerie.
Cameraman : So what did we do today?
Well I met Duane today and we got ready for the night out, and we just shot our arrival at the discotheque.
We are very excited, we're just about to dance when Duane grabs my arm and lead me somewhere and I won't spoil where that leads.
Day 6 - Police raids the Discopath appartment
Day 9 - Discopath escape from the college
I am now with a police officer that I will *** later on tonight.
Cameraman : And how will you go about that?
Disguised as a police detective, one I previously murdered,
I will come out that door and the police officer, under the impression that I am his colleague, will ask me what is going on.
I will tell him that it is "friday night" and then thrust a screwdriver into his neck.
Next I will watch him as he slowly dies on the hood of the police car Then I will escape in a grey truck while listening to disco music.
Vincent : Boy what a pleasure it is to play with you Jeremie : Yes I really do take care of my colleagues
Vincent : I sure can't wait, the screwdriver right in the throat you say Jeremie : Yeah yeah
Vincent : Yep, that's gonna be...yep
So you have the fake neck and a fiberglass plate underneath with the small rubber pipe that goes through it.
So it goes all the way down and I am there on the ground beside him.
As soon as he gets slashed I will pump the fake blood, which will go up the pipe and gush out.
Day 10 - Discopath boards a plane
Day 13 - Discopath cuts throats
My name is Sybille Gauthier, I am the daughter of Renaud, the director.
This is a great project for him and I hope it will be successful
It's crazy because I get killed in his movie
Cameraman : How do you get killed?
With old records that are thrown at me I believe. So I get decapitated, dragged and thrown all over
Cameraman : So what does your mother think about that?
She's fine with it, it's just a new experience.
Now we molded this part and then this part,
she had to leave on vacation, so I needed to mold the feet of my girlfriend
and use the arms from another girl, then I put it all together. It took a long time to make.
I put a plaster shell on one side, let it dry, then cover the other side of the model
Once it's all dry you cut in the middle to get two separate parts.
You then close it up again and cast the plaster inside the shell, that will give the "positive" model.
Once the imperfections are corrected you lay the model down and cover it with one layer of clay,
one layer of silicon and one layer of fiber glass, let it dry, turn the model on the other side and repeat...one hell of a job!
I will try to put on these black contact lenses, which will give the illusion of dilated pupils
Day 16 - Sister Mireille wants discipline
Hi, my name is Ingrid Falaise, I play sister Mireille.
What we just shot here was the end of class for the students of Saint Lucie's college
and Sister Mireille wants to keep order while the girls leave.
She is a bit of a dictator and rules her college with an iron fist...
Cameraman : a student such as?
...students like Sybille, Renaud's daughter and a actress too.
So she will try to sneak back into the college so she can spend the week-end there,
and I will catch her or rather catch her friend in the act, which will be shown in a later scene...
...So it's a slasher flick, decapitation, electrocution, lots of blood, death people.
Cameraman : You look very serious, your character seems very stern
Yes she is very austere, like I said earlier she want to rule the college with her iron fist.
So yes, she is very stiff but she seems to realize that cossacks, uniforms and are slowling fading away and that scares her
Offscreen : Ingrid!
Well looks like I am needed on set, so that's it then, thanks!
Day 20 - Father Antoine admonishes his parishionners
Good day, my name is Pierre Lenoir and in Discopathe I have the honour and the pleasure of playing father Antoine.
Who is this man, well we are in the early 80's and so religion is still very present in schools,
particularly schools for girls where most of the movie takes place.
I ask the director what my character was doing in this movie, I won't spoil anything,
but my character is not culpable, nor is he victim so what is he?
He told me that he his a color, a presence that serves as a reminder of how things were in that era.
Now the scene today is the funeral of three victims and I do the eulogy,
filling the church with my voice, because father Antoine loves to hear the sound of his voice.
He gets so caught up in the moment that his heart will fail, and it is not the first time for him.
...and do not wake Mireille, Melanie and Caroline for their sleep is eternal!
Day 21 - Interviews, stunts and coffin throwing
I loved it! I really did. It was a marvelous experience filled with amazing coworkers and lots of learning on my part.
Of course in the end I am a bit *** myself but still very satisfied by how the whole experience went.
Loads of stuff happened: decapitations, nude scenes, gunshots, chases throughout Montreal
Cameraman : So for you this movie was a rich and varied experience Jeremy : Oh yes and completely unique, I would do it all over again
Cameraman : What about Renaud and Marie-Claire (producer) Jeremy : They're amazing, they really took care of everyone.
They were professional, as the whole team was. They would always be resourceful so that the shoot went as smooth as possible
Cameraman : Are you curious to see the result? Jeremy : Oh yes, I am very curious to see it
I'm sure it will be popular, especially for fans of the slasher genre.
What I've seen so far was superb so I am very curious to see the movie as a whole.
But when I will see myself on the screen I am sure that I will freak because I know that
maybe I should've done this or that differently, but it will be fun nonetheless, yes I am curious.
Renaud : Here it goes
I got what I wanted, it wasn't easy, I had a golden team and thanks to them for being so awesome.
I am very grateful for all the work and special effects done by Remy Couture.
I also want to commend John Londono for his work behind the camera, thanks also to the steadicam operators.
What've have seen so far pleases me. I might say otherwise once we go in the editing room but for now I am totally satisfied.
Cameraman : This was a long process, how did things got started with Discopath?
I had the idea about ten years ago, I always thought that disco was scary music. So I made a list of disco songs,
and then came the idea of a man that goes crazy everytime he hears disco music. He sees his father electrocuting himself when he is a boy...
(cough)...sorry I am sick because I haven't stopped working in the last 21 days.(cough)
So he was traumatized when he saw his father die in front of him. I thought this was a great backstory for a classical horror movie.
About 5 years ago I wrote a 45-page script and took it to funding agencies but they didn't really get the "slasher" vibe in my story.
Then I met Marie-Claire Lalonde at Voyous Films and we tried to get financed through official channels but didn't got anything.
So this year I decided to gather all the ressources I have and, together with Marie-Claire, we produce the movie ourselves.
we got a real movie, one that is better than a lot of stuff I get to watch.
Listen, we had a real budget so it's a real movie. When you will see it on the big screen you'll see that it is a real one
Offscreen : Room tone! Renaud : Shut up
So after impact both cars will be scrap.
