Hi, I'm Father Dominic the Bread Monk, author of "How to Be a Breadhead" and this is a Breadhead
Minute. One thing that's really important to every breadhead is a good bread knife.
Now a lot of people make the mistake of believing that best thing would be a serrated knife
like this, with these kinds of points. But in fact, those points can tear up the crust
and make a lot of crumbs, especially for a crustier loaf of bread. Now one like this
with these tiny serrations, is a little bit better, but best of all is to use a wavy knife
like this. Here's a modern version. Here's a more antique version that you can sometimes
find in flea markets or antique malls. This wavy knife cuts very very smoothly. Now remember
too that when you cut the bread, you don't want to push down real hard. It's the sawing
motion that makes for a really good slice. I'm Father Dominic, become a Breadhead and
you'll be blessed. This Breadhead Minute made possible by the Home Baking Association, resources
