I'm Rob Herman with the Albert M. Higley Company
and I'm the superintendent for the Cleveland
Hearing and Speech Center project.
This is a four story building
approximately 50,000 square feet,
and right now I'd like to go out
and take a look and give a little tour.
Right now we're in the first floor area.
As you can see, and will be able to see
we're in the rough end stages of this floor.
We have a lot of the stud and drywall continuing,
we have the plumbing and electrical rough end
going on in the walls.
Let's go over here.
You see we have temporary heat
so we can keep the temperature
at certain conditions that we need to do work.
Like our, our drywall taping,
our grouting of our doorframes and such as that.
So we're trying to keep it a comfortable,
consistent temperature during February here.
Let's go on over...
Here you can see a lot
of our rough end materials.
You can see our job at work.
Some of our insulation.
I apologize for the noise but it's part of construction.
Let's go over here.
These guys are taking a break.
They're not really lazy, or not working,
they're just taking a break here at break time.
Let's go over here.
Here we can see some
of our hollow metal doorframes.
Windows going in, you can see our stud work,
our electric, our drywall.
All the different rough end stages
we need to do to get this thing built and together.
Let's go over here.
Right here we see tarps and plastic.
We put the tarps and plastic up
so that we can contain the heat as much as possible.
And, let's work our way around to the stairwell here
and go up the stairs, to the second floor.
We're going up in one of the two stairwells,
two main stairwells here,
and we just put this in a week ago
and it provides us access up to the other floors.
Let's go up.
Now we're on the second floor.
We've probably completed most of this floor
before any other floor on the project.
This is the floor we'll complete and finish first.
As you can see we have most of our drywall up,
and all of our rough ends are complete up here.
Let's go around the corner.
As a matter of fact, in about two weeks
we're going to have the painter in to start his painting.
After that we'll have ceilings and such.
Now, let's proceed around here.
This is mostly the administrative
offices areas and this is where a lot of the faculty,
staff and such as that will reside.
There are a lot of observation rooms and such.
Let's go around the corner here.
This will be one of the most
interesting areas in the building.
This is a balcony area.
There will be a fancy handrail along here.
This will overlook the lobby area.
It will definitely be one of
the most exciting areas on the project.
Right now you can see we've got
this area blocked off with plastic.
This will all be glass
and aluminum curtain wall eventually.
It'll be an exceptional view on the corner here.
We're now on the third floor.
This essentially is Case Western Reserves floor.
They will do their study, their research,
whatever they do really, this is their floor.
And you can see it's in most of the finished stages.
We're taping our drywall,
we'll have the painter up here in about three
to four weeks and start the finishes up here.
If you come this way...
Again mostly offices, research rooms, things of that sort.
Okay, now I think we'll go up to the fourth floor
and take a look at that.
We are now on the fourth floor.
This floor we're in a fairly rough stage.
Starting to put on our drywall.
Still roughing in our electrical, plumbing
and HVAC up here.
But this will proceed quite nicely, I would say
in a couple weeks we'll have drywall taping going on up here.
Mostly up here are the executive offices,
conference rooms and such.
Come with me.
Again, basic office space.
The offices are a little bit, a little bit bigger up here
probably, a little bit fancier.
Of course being high up, the better views.
Looking out one of the south office windows,
you can see across the street
is the Cleveland Institute of Art.
And just to left of it you see the rooftops of Little Italy
and Murray Hill there, quite a view.
Quite a nice view here.
And if we go over to the west side,
you can see the Peter B. Lewis Building roof.
That's quite different and exciting.
And you can see the towers from downtown also.
This is definitely the floor you want to be on
if you're looking for a great view.
Okay, now we'll convene our little quick video tour here.
And like I said I am Rob Herman with the Albert Higley Company.
It's been my pleasure and we, we would like to have you back.
I would like to show you more as we progress through the project.
And we plan on finishing up,
we will be finished by September of this year.
And we'll keep you updated through these little video tours
as we accomplish that completion there in September.
So I look forward to seeing you again.
Thank you.
