We are going to slow it down. Would you like to talk about this? Or...This one? Oh no or...well the other one I know you're going to talk about.
Let me talk about the last one. Um.. by the way for those you who...I am okay saxophone player. But um...
I get a chance to play with....um...mostly what I do is
writing and is for those of you who don't
understand
what that is? and sometimes I have to explain that to my Mom cause you know... "What do you actually do?"
"What's the arranger actually do? I don't know. We sit in a room and we kind of just do nothing. We
drink and whatever. And we don't do anything." But for those of you who want know what
I do
Here's a good example. You guys ready? Everybody ready? ..... One Two One Two Three Four! That's what happens if I don't do it. Just want to let you know. 'Jazz Me Blues' is uh...
kind of a um...where's Stan? Where's Stan Freese?
Stan? Hey Stan! Hey! Stan was playing the tuba line to that while were...while we were doing that
Um...I kind of grew up
playing at Disneyland
And so did Rich.
We bored the entire band with our Disneyland stories the other day. Some rolling their eyes
going "That's great guys! You're really old!" And um... anyway
Jazz Me Blues is a tune that I used to play at the French Market
for about 15 years until Stan fired me. Is that right? He fired me. Stan fired me.
I know. And then I came back to work in 1983
I was fired in 1978. And
came back to work in 1983 and at the end of 1983. Hi Eric! I see Eric. Yeah. And uh .. Because Eric
was fired with me.
We came back in 1983 and he fired us again. Son of a gun. But
Jazz Me Blues I played on the French Market stage
for years and I actually wrote
that for a gentleman named Sigurd Kohn.
because he heard had heard this on
I can't remember the record or CD. And umm...
I can't remember who did it.
but I did an arrangement for him and he was from Norway.
and I flew all the way to Norway and we did a whole CD
of stuff.
and this is one of the tunes.
and
and Sigurd we lost Sigurd
because in Norway oddly enough the place where they
go to have recreation or
go on vacation is in
Phuket
and he was on the beach on the Tsunami Day
and
we lost him and his son on that particular day. I don't want to bring the concert down
But what was killer about this
and I didn't mention this to the band
is that
he never heard it played this good. And I wished he
would have
because this band played it wonderful.
so good. And I'm not making that up. I really mean that. On that happy note. You wanna do Ja-Da.
I wrote this
for George Grant. And George doesn't play anymore. So I don't know what happens? Every time I write something
for somebody then something happens.
