Hello everyone, and welcome to Sendagaya Check,
bringing you weekly updates on exciting Japanese Entertainment News from Sendagaya, Tokyo.
Here, we cover all genres of Japanese entertainment from music, movies, pop-idol, animation and more!
So, if you want to know what's hot and happening in Japan, you've come to the right place.
Our featured band this time is "Seikimatsu," meaning, "the end of the century."
Seikimatsu is a Japanese hard-rock band created by members who actually called themselves demons.
They came to fame in the 80's, calling live performance "black mass," song "sacred book," and they continued to engage in "missionary work"
remaining very popular until 1999, when the group disbanded.
According to Seikimatsu, what looks like make-up to us on their faces, is not. Apparently it's all natural.
And surprisingly, this entertaining presentation of the band won the hearts of many Japanese fans.
Amusing, yes, but at the same time they are dedicated and highly skilled musicians.
And that explains why, even after 10 years since the group disbanded,
the number "believers" or followers of Seikimatsu, keep increasing.
It's quite fair to say that the eye-catching, unique gimmicksof the present day V-Rock or "visual rock" bands can be attributed to Seikimatsu.
The "end of the century" certainly gave birth to a whole new look!
Well, that's all for this week on "Sendagaya Check"
Thanks for joining me, and see you next time!
