Memoir Of A Yob
My name is Zamri
I'm 22 years old
Studying in KL
I came from Parit, Perak
For this semester break, I thought I'd spend my time back home with my dad
I'm an only child
And my mother died a long time ago
The ticket to Parit is at 5.00 p.m.
I have a lot of time on my hands
I grew up with Ipoh
This was where I went to school, played around and hung out
I like Ipoh
It's different from the other cities
It's heritage and development move together
My stomach's growling
I feel like eating Vanggey Rice
Outsiders know Ipoh as Food Heaven
They would travel far just to get a taste of the authenticity of the good foods here
The many types of foods which recipes have been passed down through the generations
Have become a part of Ipoh's history
We can see for ourselves how food have united us here
Here, in Ipoh City
Looking back at the memories I have of this place
Never fail to put a smile on my face
The city that has given me a thousand and one experiences
Sweet and bitter memories
My fall and rise
Stories of failure and the meaning of victory
Despite all that, I know
No matter how far I chase my dreams
From this earth or even to the sun
My place will always be here
