Hey Vemma Team! BK Boreyko here, welcome to this week’s video blog
You know what? In this week’s video blog, I have a very special guest.
A guy that has been in this industry for 22 years, a guy that I have known about for the last several years.
Somebody I have always been really, really impressed with because of what he has been able to create in the network marketing industry: Anthony Powell.
Anthony: welcome! Thank you very much. You started at 19 years old, joined a company called…Herbalife.
And they were doing about how much a year? About a hundred. A hundred and 10 million.
Kind of the same spot we are in. And you helped them create: what?
Well, it was interesting because when I got in, I was 19 years old. YPR! Here is the originator of YPR.
19 years old. Changed your life, didn’t it? Yes, because I was interning at a pharmaceutical company and I realized corporate America was definitely not what I wanted to do.
Nor was it going to serve my goals and dreams but ironically what happened was: I was interning one day and I went upstairs as I was interning during the day and worked in this company at night…
To pay the bills and also do all that while going to college. One day I walked upstairs and there was this full grown man crying.
And I can remember it as it was yesterday. I ran to his rescue and asked: ‘What happened? Did you fall? Did you get hurt?’
He said that after 30 years of working for that company, right before the retirement they let him go.
And he climbed from distribution, making 6 bucks and hour, all the way up to a quarter million, 300 000 a year.
And he said: ‘Now here I am, I need 2 jobs to make what I am earning here.’
So of course I comforted him and helped the guy for a while to help him a little bit but
at 19 years old, that sparked me and I said: ‘Wait a minute, the same thing can happen to me.’
That deep rooted into me at a very early age and I had no idea that network marketing was the thing.
Ironically, someone dropped off an Amway information kit to me one day. And I went to that meeting and I said: what the heck is this?!
People were opening doors for people and had catalogues and all kind of weird things going on. And they were handing me stale protein bars.
And at 19 I thought, this is not a fit for me.
And one day, somebody got me on a product line that changed my life.
What I loved about it: it was a product that somebody could consume.
Because the products changed my life, I started getting people on the product, very similar to what is happening to the movement of Verve, right?
My first month, I moved 5 000 dollars worth of product.
Kind of by accident, by sending samples, and I ended up earning 1900 dollars first month.
And that blew my mind and my mentor at the time, he had already made millions at the company I was with.
He had already gone through the eighties and parts of the nineties, and really I had an opportunity to hold on to his coat tails.
So I said: ‘Listen, I am willing to do the work, I am willing to do whatever you tell me, I will hold your bags long enough
Just show me how to do this. I am teachable, I want it.’
And I followed him. My first month, as I said, I earned a little bit over 1900 dollars.
By the end of the first year, I was up over 7000 a month.
No one in my family made 7 000 per month at their jobs and here I was, part time, making 7 000 per month so I fired my boss
And this is really funny, I had a firing my boss party at my job.
And everyone said: Oh these things do not work. You are going to be back, you are going to be back at your job.
This is a cottage industry. That kind of pushed me a little bit harder.
Second year, 10 000 per month, and then from there…Can I ask what your highest cheque was?
My highest cheque was well into, I will tell you this but I do not want to blow people out of the away, was well into hundreds of thousands of dollars per month.
I cannot even explain that. Because for me…But you started at 1900 per month?!
I started at 1900, but you need to understand, I thought 10 000 a month was big.
When you get into 10 000 a month; hypothetically speaking; when you are young, and even when you are older, a lot of you guys…
Out there, you know the deal. You work your tails off and you get 3-5 000 per month. You get taxed at 40% and you are left with not much.
So then when you make your first 20 000, and when you make your first 30 000, you make your first 60 000, and a 100 000,
and a few hundred thousand, and you get your bonus checks of hundreds of thousands per month
And you end up looking back, and you think, wait a minute, I have made millions, and millions and millions in an industry where everyone told me I was going to fail.
And here is a thing I have to share with you: no one is going to pay your bills but you.
So you have to make a decision if you want a part time or a full time income. The four letter word that separates everybody for some reason is work.
That’s what I was not scared to do.
I just wanted a bit of quality life so I fell in love with network marketing.
You know what is funny when I listen to your story, there is always something that happens that is a catalyst that gets you to the next level
I remember when I left advertising and I went to work in network marketing as distributor
And a guy by the name Drew, you know who you are, said to me: ‘You will be back begging for your job in 6 months’.
Wow. And those words still ring in my head today. I do not know where Drew is, but I am not begging for nothing.
And this business, this industry can change your life.
Now, Anthony, the success that you have had over 22 years. You pick Vemma.
I know our entire leadership is saying: what lead you to this decision? What are the qualities?
When you are on the inside, and you are doing it all the time, sometimes you do not know or notice the things that make it an opportunity special.
Why don’t you share with the team why you made the decision you have made?
First of all, there is an old saying: people first, product second. People first, and business second.
I fell in love with you as a person.
I love you too.
Not in that way but you know what I am talking about.
I like your beliefs, I like what you stand for. You have got six kids.
Six very cute kids. For me this is what I came into this industry for.
The founder of the company I came from was heavily active and involved in the company on everyday basis.
When you lose that and that passion and people who are running the company are more geared towards driving the stock
it is no longer serving people, you are serving analysts and something else, which is not a bad thing.
If that is your business model, but our business model is to take products into the market, and serve people and help people to get a result.
And I just felt that was lost, I did not feel the company was bad, what I felt is that the vision and what we stood for was lost.
That’s when you get to a point and see if the shoe does not fit, you have got to go and find the one that does.
It is funny. My dad had been in this industry since I was 7 years old. He always taught me early on, back when we started out with New Vision.
He would go around the floor and talk to our customer service agents, he would say: ’When the phone rings, pick it up and be nice to those people.
Because those are our customers and they are the ones that pay the bills.’
This customer service philosophy has permeated through this company because everyone knows my email address, it is BK@Vemma.com
If my staff does not make you happy, typically I get an email which says: ‘Can you look into this?’, I would forward it back and say ‘Make those people happy.’
They have actually, over the years, by passed me and made people happy.
We call our people customers. Everybody that is a part of this company: we think of you as a customer.
If you are a customer that just wants to consume our products. We have fabulous innovative products you cannot find anywhere else or
If you are one of our Brand Partner Customers, that want to promote our products, that is our philosophy towards business.
I think that is a foundation that you can build an empire on.
That is right. Both of us come from the tablets and the shake industry.
You came from New Vision, your other company, at that time, that was cutting edge.
Taking a whole handful of tablets or capsules, we thought that was cutting edge.
Now what you guys are seeing, you were first to market with this, is liquid nutrition.
When you are a network marketer, it equals retention.
You do not have a point of failure when you do not know how to make anything, when things do not get cut in your throat.
I really love the thought of one billion at the front end of business, but then number two, having all your work stick.
Building a back end retention arm, having people that are consuming, at the end of the day, that is what the true walk-away income was.
What I found out was, with the older, break away old-school marketing plans, they are not really called break aways.
They are called take-aways because you are build this volume and they end up taking all your business from you because
No-one’s volume is helping each other. And in buying areas, everyone’s volume is helping each other.
And if you go find more people, no one is a distributor, all you are is a consumer
you are getting paid to consume and to share the product with somebody else.
That’s when, whether you are part time or full time, even someone who is not the sharpest tool in the shed like me, can success.
The most easily demonstrable product ever, you cannot get any easier.
So really, it is a no brainer plus you do not have to have a hundred products in your line.
So you are not getting ten questions from one person, here is how hard it is:
Get it ice cold, open it and drink it.
And within 20 minutes, someone is calling you and saying: ‘Whatever that was, I want more of it.’
In my 22 year history, the center of influence has always been part of the back bone of this industry,
We always talk about getting samples out to your friends and family,
I have never had traction with the center of influence, we have always done it, we have always taught it
But it has never been 5% of my business, and it is in the short period of just being here, everyone is sampling Verve
The explosion of how many cases just by people handling samples of it, it is mind-blowing.
I have built my entire business online, I have an online approach where our guys work 100% online, and everything we do is on the internet.
So now when we sign somebody up as a brand partner, through the internet, now they can take products and samples to everybody they know,
and they are not going to feel weird about it, they will want to do it.
It is amazing when you invite some people over to your house, and you break up the Verve, how fast it goes.
And here is the best news: our biggest Verve product, has not even been release yet
It is going to be coming up online this Monday. You need to come down and check it out.
That is cool. I do have to tell you, I came in once and I had a little cup of it, let me tell you, if there was ever a product to go out there and purchase
The minute you see it online, here is what you need to do, you need to click the order button for yourself
And you need to get everybody in your organization get one or two cases, because, what I know about this product,
I have tasted it and it is absolutely going to sell within minutes
So do not be the person that sits there and think about it, you need to get as much of it as you can possibly can
Cos you need to drink it and you need to sample it, so that it explodes your business even more.
We have the Verve line, we have the Bode line. And most importantly we have got you. Team! That’s it.
For this week’s video blog, thank you very much, thank you for all you are doing.
We are coming out of 2013 with record daily sales, daily recruiting numbers that are records, and it is all because of the efforts that you are putting it.
I appreciate you, thank you, Anthony, thank you for choosing us! Likewise!
I will work hard to make sure this is the best decision you have made in your life. And I will work hard to make sure this is the best decision in your life Team!
That’s it! Keep up the great work and I will talk to you next week. Bye!
