50-50 Frontside 180 OUT In the intro to freestyle videos we covered
50-50s and 180s. Once you've got both of these dialed you can add them together and combo
your tricks. Find a flat box that you're comfortable with
and *** out a couple of mellow 50-50s to warm up.
While hiking the feature visualize how it feels doing counter-rotated front 1's with
a pre-loaded body position. It's a very similar technique to do a front 1 off the end of a
jib. Approach the same as you would for a 50-50,
when you land on the box begin to reach your back hand towards the nose of your board.
Don't lean towards either edge as you do this movement or you'll slip out.
By the end of the box have your back hand pointing down the fall-line and as you come
off, your lower body should feel like it wants to catch up to your pre-loaded upper body.
Allow it to counter-rotate and unwind like a rubber-band. You can incorporate a hop or
ollie, just remember to keep flat based. Absorbe your landing by flexing with your
knees, re-align your body into a relaxed stance and ride away like it aint a thang.
If you're having trouble getting a full 180 out then it usually means you need to counter-rotate
more, winding up your body that little bit extra. The more pre-loaded you are, the easier
it is to spin out. Once you've got it on simple boxes step it
up to street-style rails cos they're way more legit. Ollie in, to either a frontside or
backside 50-50. Use the exact same technique of pointing to your nose to pre-load your
body, and counter-rotate a 180 off the end. As you improve, you'll find its actually way
easier to 180 out from a rail then any box as you can slightly angle your board against
rails for extra push.
