More than 250 works of art, dating back to World War I
are currently on display at the Pentagon. This exhibit which is open to the public,
celebrates the creative spirit of the American soldier.
[Sarah Forgey] The purpose of this exhibit is really to showcase the artwork
that is in the Army art collection and to have a chance to exhibit it to the public.
Right now we have--the artwork is stored at a facility in downtown D.C.
and we have no exhibit space, so we are working together in this exhibit
with the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, in order to give the art a chance to be displayed
and to give the public a chance to see the artwork.
People have no idea that this stuff exists, and this is our chance to
show it to the public. At least right now, before we get our own
national Army museum.
