It's a new initiative for a better looking community.
That's the aim for Auckland City Council's
graffiti-free programme in Otara.
In the past, the Otara Scorpions' Rugby League clubrooms
was a prime target for taggers,
but now it's an example of a graffiti-free building.
The Council has spent $4 million on the programme.
One of its goals is to get rid of graffiti within 24hrs,
or two hours if it's deemed inappropriate.
We're very glad to see it happen.
Despite the bad I've seen, I can also see it's getting better.
So far, the programme has been successful
and Otara has graffiti-free teams currently working in the area.
The suburb has been known as a hotspot for graffiti.
