>> STANTON: One of the big stories this year is the line-wide launch of Daf's Euro-6 trucks.
I'm here with Ray, MD of Daf in the UK. So this is a big moment for Daf in the UK, isn't
it?
>> ASHWORTH: This is absolutely tremendous. It's ability to show the world that we've
got Euro-6 available now. And it's ability to show that we have the same face for the
XF, the LF and the CF - not just on the outside of the truck, the inside as well. We're expecting
lots and lots of customers to come and see what we have to show them.
>> STANTON: And indeed today is the international debut for the CF and the LF.
>> ASHWORTH: Sure, and also our new MX11 engine which we only launched last week, and of course
for us that means that we can show CF with MX11 and LF with the new engines as well as
the XF with the new engines.
>> STANTON: Excellent, OK, let's get in one of the cabs.
Ray, tell us about the layout of the new interior.
>> ASHWORTH: What we have here is - the objective is to make sure that when a customer gets
inside a Daf, he knows he's in a Daf. The layout of the instruments, the steering wheel
- it doesn't matter whether you're in an XF, a CF or an LF, the same steering wheel in
fact fits in all the cabs. The layout of the switches, exactly the same. So when people
get into a Daf, they are in a Daf.
>> STANTON: So let's find out more about the product from Ron, who's in charge of product
development for Daf worldwide.
Launching three new trucks, and having new engines as well - clearly a big challenge
for product development. Tell us more.
>> BOORSBOOM: It is the biggest project in the history of Daf. Euro-6 was a huge challenge
for the whole of the industry, also for us. We approached it in a sense that both for
the operator and the driver the Euro-6 product has to be even better than the Euro-5 product
in terms of fuel efficiency, cost of ownership, driver comfort, everything. And I think we
were very successful. It's a big day for us to show the new product line to the public.
>> STANTON: OK, so let's have a look at that new engine as well.
>> BOORSBOOM: Sure.
>> STANTON: The MX11 engine is one of Daf's answers to the weight and the full challenges
of Euro-6, isn't it?
>> BOORSBOOM: Yeah, the MX11 is an important addition to our program, in the range between
350 and 450 horsepower. We believe downsizing is an important step for the future, we reduced
weight by 180 kilos and we carried used fuel even beyond and further than the already very
competitive MX13 with yet another 3% so that is a big deal.
>> STANTON: Excellent. Thanks Ron.
