For those of you who are wondering what's the best way to mow a lawn; here are my tips
for mowing a lawn. Number one, the really crucial thing for most lawns to stay green
and healthy is to mow as high as you can. A lot of people are tempted to mow low because
it looks great but it actually comprises the turf and in the long run you're going to end
up with thin, weedy turf or brown turf. The second thing you want to remember is to mow
frequently. You never want to take off more than a third of the grass blade at any time.
If you take out more than that it tends to comprise the grass and again you'll end up
with thin, weedy brown turf. And lastly, you never mow when it's wet because a wet lawn
is a poorly cut lawn, and it also allows diseases and pestilence to spread around to different
grass plants. And have fun when you're mowing your lawn. We've all seen baseball fields
where they put special patterns on the field that make it really pleasant. Well that's
actually kind of a clever idea that will help your lawn. If you switch up the pattern from
time to time the wheels of your lawn mower won't roll in the same place which tends to
compromise the turf there and leave streaks. So one time mow your lawn lengthwise, then
the next time mow it crosswise. Then you might think about mowing it in a diagonal pattern
or even going around in a big box till you get to the middle. By varying your pattern
you'll avoid wheel tracks in your lawn and you'll also have some fun while you're mowing
your grass.
