Today we're going to learn how to set up an account in GED Wizard. The account in GED
Wizard is a prerequisite (required) before one can take an official GED exam.
Setting up the account shortens the time the students receive their exam scores as the scores are
loaded directly into the database thereby reducing the time to send scores by mail.
In addition, students can check their own scores from any computer connected to the Internet.
So, to begin open any Internet browser. I'm going to use Mozilla Firefox.
When your browser is opened you're going to type in this address or
in the URL: http://www.gedwizard.com
HTTP://www.gedwizard.com.
http://www.gedwizard all one word .(dot) com and then click
ENTER.
Just a few guidelines before we actually set up the account.
Number one creating an account requires that you follow the formats discussed EXACTLY as described.
Otherwise, you could possibly delay getting your exam scores.
And number two setting up the account requires it to complete the entire questionnaire.
However,
for purposes of this training we're only going to cover the e-mail and password setup.
Once the GED Wizard opens you are asked:
"Do you know you're GEDWizard account e- mail and password?"
Since this is the first time
you are setting up your account your answer will be, "No
I do not." Therefore, on the right side of the screen
is the section you will complete. It is asking for a first name, last name, and a birthday
and in this case we'll use the first name of Mary.
And then we'll type in a last name
Testcase.
And this is all just examples.
Please follow the format for the birthday of month/month; day/day; and year/year/year/ year or the four digit year. So, we'll enter O8
27
1990 and at the bottom and says NEXT. On the
next screen it says "Tell us where you would like to test." Then scroll about 3/4 way down until we find North Carolina and click on
the circle or the check box. Then click on continue at the bottom of the screen.
It's checking whether the name and birth date matches anything in the database and it may take a few minutes.
So we'll just wait until it comes back.
Once the system is finished checking to see whether not that name and birth date matches anything in the database you will
come to this page called "My account". On this page we will enter our e-mail and our password for this account.
We ask that all students follow this format for the e-mail and password. Caution: do not enter a personal e-mail
that you might have with Gmail or Yahoo. Follow the format exactly as described.
The format for the e-mail is:
first name.last name.nine digit social security number
(without dashes and no spaces) @nc.non. So, let's type in our example. First name was mary
.
testcase.(fake Social Security number) 111223344 @nc.non.
Once we've typed it - it is asking us to confirm this e-mail.
So we type it again mary (first name) the (last name) testcase.(nine digits of security number without any dashes)
@nc.non. And now the same thing with a password please follow the format exactly as specified.
For example it's going to be the letters abc plus your nine digits security number without any spaces or dashes. So in our our
example it's: abc(then the nine digit security number) 11122
3344. You are asked to reenter the password which is abc111223344. Now in terms of setting up the account I would
advise you to come back and another time and finish the questions that would take you about 15 to 20 minutes. But for purposes
of this training we are only going to be doing the e-mail and a password. Scroll all the way down to the bottom where it says "Save".
Then I click on the save button. So, once we have finished setting up we're going to log out so that we can actually check our
password and email set up. We're back to the main screen where we can logon to the GED Wizard. It is asking us do you know your
account e-mail and password. In this case we can say yes we do because we setup our e-mail was our first name
mary.testcase.social security number@nc.non. And we're going to use the password: abc(social security number).
Click on Enter to see if we have our account. So, when you come back
again to finish the account setup you will go into the Demographic Survey. That concludes our training.
