In this video you’ll learn
how to manipulate “Frequency Compression”.
If your patient has a very severe
or pronounced high frequency hearing loss,
he might be a candidate for frequency compression.
First switch to the “Fitting” tab.
After first fit Connexx will activate "Frequency Compression"
by default only if the patient’s audiogram indicates
that he may not benefit from traditional means of amplification.
Within the "Fine Tuning" section
you can adjust the settings for “Frequency Compression”.
If it is generally not desired to apply "Frequency Compression"
after “First Fit” it can be deactivated
under the "First Fit" section in the user prefrences.
The two parameters “fmin” and “fmax” are automatically
set according to the patient’s hearing loss.
The lower frequency “fmin” defines the starting point
of the frequency compression range.
Relevant information from incoming frequencies above “fmin”
will be compressed into the range between “fmin” and “fmax”.
From the curve view, you can identify the range
for which frequency compression applies.
The area above “fmax” is grayed out to indicate the lack
of acoustic output in this frequency region.
If required, the “fmin” and “fmax” parameters
which are pre-selected after first fit
can be changed according to the wearer’s needs and preferences.
You can also deactivate the feature if desired.
