in this example i'm asked to write each whole number in words
i'm going to start by putting each number into the place value table
see where the digits line up and then use that to help me write the number in
words so if you look at this first number it's got three sets of three
digits if i look at my table I've got three sets of three columns
ending here in the the hundred millions
place so i'm going to put
my number there, two and then next
to it the seven, five and the three
four
five
and then two, zero, one
so if I use the table to help me read the number
that's two hundred seventy five million
three
hundred
forty five thousand
two hundred
one
so what i can do then is to take that information and write that
number all of the pieces of that number
in words and put that right next to the number
so it might take you a little time to write that out you might want to pause the video
and then take a look at the second number and see if you can read that one
one your own
again with the second number i'm gonna start by putting each of the digits into
the place value table i've got two sets of three digits
so that's going to start me here at the hundred thousands place
so that's five-oh-two
oh-one three and then if i use the table to help me read the number that's
five hundred
two thousand, thirteen notice that i never said the word and
it's not until we
read numbers that
go to the right of the decimal point which is right here
that we will use the number and when you cross the decimal
you use and other than that you don't
so I'm going to put
the reading of the second number here
once again
five hundred
two thousand
thirteen
