Welcome to Barcelona and welcome to Mobile World Congress 2013.
This year's motto is the new mobile horizon
and Rohde & Schwarz is one of the drivers
of exactly that mobile horizon of the future,
with its market-leading test and measurement products for the mobile industry.
But Rohde & Schwarz also offers IT security and encryption products.
Two of these products we are showing today at the show.
TopSec Mobile is a Bluetooth handset that connects to the smartphone.
As long as we speak into the smartphone,
the encryption takes place right here in this device.
And as the voice travels via Bluetooth to the smartphone,
the data is already encrypted,
so nobody who taps the call at any point in the conversation
will be able to understand what people say.
And this is what many of our customers appreciate.
Most of the TopSec Mobiles go into operators of critical infrastructure
or governmental organizations.
The second IT security product we show today
is Rohde & Schwarz SITLine Ethernet Encryptor product family.
Ethernet is an efficient and economic and high-performance way
to connect remote geographic locations, for example
corporate headquarters to datacenter
headquarters to R&D facilities or production facilities
almost anywhere in the world.
Encrypting Ethernet connections
is again very efficient way of protecting information.
Unlike encryption on other-- communication layers,
Ethernet encryption does not add a huge encryption and security overhead,
so customers keep almost 100% of the bandwidth
they are getting from the
service provider even after encryption.
The second advantage of Ethernet encryption is
that it does not add any remarkable latency,
for example latency is only in the microseconds range, against
other encryption methods which add-- latency in the millisecond range.
Rohde & Schwarz SITLine Ethernet family
offers a wide variety of products including large 19-inch devices
for datacenter applications, as well as a tiny device which operates without fan,
has an extremely high-- mean time between failure and
operates in an extended temperature range
between -20 and +70 degrees.
It's therefore extremely well suited for
isolated premises, locations, broadcast towers
and mobile network base stations and antenna towers,
to connect them safely to access networks,
to access nodes or corporate headquarters.
