American billionaire couple share their fortune with others. Entrepreneur and philanthropist
Eli Broad and his wife Edythe have announced the donation of 75% of their estimated US$5.7
billion estate to charity. Mr. Broad is joining the initiative “The Giving Pledge” launched
by billionaires Warren Buffet and Bill Gates that encourages other wealthy Americans to
give at least half of their fortune to charity. Mr. and Mrs. Broad said in a statement: “We
agree with Andrew Carnegie’s wisdom that ‘The man who dies rich, dies disgraced.’
Philanthropy is unbelievably rewarding, and we hope others will also realize the benefits
of being active, engaged philanthropists.”
Providence bless your thoughtful and giving hearts, Mr. Eli Broad and Mrs. Edythe Broad.
Surely such kind generosity as yours will offer hope and upliftment to many lives, helping
transform our world for the better. For their loving benevolence, Supreme Master
Ching Hai is honoring Mr. and Mrs. Broad with the Shining World Compassion Award
