mostly for the fantastic aquarium
filled with things like Hammerhead Sharks
and Egg Yolk Jellyfish.
This is an adult Moon Jelly.
Some mini-Moon Jellies with photographer's reflection in the glass.
And teensy Moon Jellies with photographer's friend.
These are Velella velella -- they're like jellies, but actually sail on top of the ocean.
These sad-looking little guys are Pharaoh Cuttlefish.
Here we have a species of Goose Barnacle stuck to a glass globe.
They're ready for their close-up.
These are an unidentified species of whelk. The tubes are mouth-bits feeding on a shrimp.
Before you now is a cluster of squid egg cases. Yours truly mistook them for coral.
These aren't penguins. They're Common Murres on the wrong side of a dirty glass and automatic camera flash.
These are Blackfooted Penguins.
They're very fast in the water and native to South Africa.
The real reason most people visit the Aquarium, however,
is the Sea Otter exhibit.
With their forepaws above water to keep warm
they swim along, knowing an admiring audience lurks just on the other side of the double-walled Plexiglas.
Showoffs.
