All the mystery and hype over Samsung's latest smartphone was unveiled in New York City on
Thursday.
The Korean tech giant's latest flaship smartphone the Galaxy S4 made its splashy opening at
the famed Radio City Music Hall.
Arirang News' Yoo Li-an tells us more about the latest gadget.
The Galaxy S4 was finally introduced to the world in front of a packed house at New York
City's Radio City Music Hall.
The latest flagship phone is first in the Galaxy S-series to make its debut on U.S.
soil, the home turf of main rival Apple.
The innovative software features of the Galaxy S4 are the most apparent upgrade.
"What if we can record sound while taking pictures? Wouldn't it be convenient if the
smartphone can understand when you want to scroll up and down? Or even pause simply by
looking away from the screen.
Consider touch, then reconsider touch.
Imagine touch-less interfaces."
The upgraded software includes what's called an Air Wave feature, where users can wave
their hands over the screen to scroll through photos.
It's meant to make it easier for users, who may be preoccupied with other things, to perform
simple tasks on their phone without actually having to touch it.
There's also a dual camera feature where both the rear and front camera can be used to capture
photos at the same time.
When it comes to hardware, the Galaxy S4 has a slightly slimmer body and a larger screen
compared to its predecessor.
"It's mind-blowingly thin and weighs only 130 grams. And yet the screen is now a full
five inches. In other words, there is less to hold and
more to see.
And this is a full HD super AMOLED screen. It's unbelievably sharp."
The S4 will hit stores in the U.S. by the end of April and in Korea and Europe by mid-May.
