A driven young lawman has come to Ragged Isle...
...determined to find the answers that have, so far,
eluded the Sheriff.
An unseen killer lurks in their midst...
...as he races into the unknown.
Sheriff!
Deputy Dan.
Thanks for coming.
I understand we've got a bit of a situation out here on the island.
I'm not sure what we've got.
Let's walk and talk. I've got a town meeting to get to.
Tell me something, Deputy Dan.
What's the most effective way you can think of to drown a man...
...without holding him under the water?
Wait, what?
It's good to see you all.
I'll be brief...
...as I know we all want to get down to the town meeting.
We've all heard about the recent deaths...
...and the manner in which they died.
I think we need to prepare ourselves for the fact that...
...a matter we've long considered closed...
...has been reopened.
Let's get started. We've got a lot to cover tonight.
Thank you all for coming.
A few announcements:
Rose Fuller still needs volunteers for Lobster Days.
The festival is less than a week away.
I know we all like to eat them...
...but Rose needs our help, too.
There's a sign-up sheet in the back.
Julie?
Should we even be having a lobster festival this year?
I mean, after what's happened?
And what about the talent show?
My daughter's been practicing for months.
That's even worse!
Isn't in poor taste to hold a talent show...
...after two of our own have been murdered?
Come on, people!
What I want to know is when is Sheriff going to arrest Harrison Shaw?
[crowd murmurs]
Arrest me for what, Gordon?
Everyone knows what those boys were up to.
I still say the talent show and lobster fest are disrespectful.
I move we cancel both.
Julie, if I may.
You'd like to say something, Rose?
Thank you Julie.
The talent show and lobster festival...
...have been held every year...
...for as long as any of us can remember.
They're the scene of my fondest memories on this island.
In fact, I won the talent show one year...
...as some of the older people in the audience may recall.
And for you younger people...
...never mind what my talent was.
[laughter]
Over the years...
...we've faced many tragedies and adversities.
Boating accidents, fires, storms, floods...
...drownings, and lobstering bans.
But every year...
...no matter what else was going on...
...we came together to celebrate what makes this island so special.
It is not disrespectful at all.
In fact, it's deeply respectful...
...to those boys and the careers they chose.
Thank you.
[applause]
We have a motion on the floor...
...to cancel the annual lobster festival and talent show.
All in favor?
[scattered "Aye"s]
And all opposed?
[many "Nay"s]
The "Nay"s have it.
The annual lobster festival and talent show...
...will proceed as planned!
[cheers, applause]
Thank you, Julie.
Okay people, let's settle down.
I'm glad we voted the way we did.
Let's have some fun.
But let's also be smart.
These are dangerous times.
We have two unsolved murders on our hands.
Now, I know there are a lot of cockamamie rumors...
...and half-baked theories flying around.
I've heard 'em.
It needs to stop, now.
As soon as we know something solid...
...you'll know it too.
In the meantime...
...there are things you can do to protect yourselves...
...and your loved ones.
Don't go anywhere on the island by yourself...
...and don't go out after dark...
...unless you absolutely have to.
We've lost two of our own.
It's my job...
...to make sure that we don't lose anyone else.
With your help...
...I'm confident we can keep everyone on the island safe.
