Hi everyone. This is Mike from OCLC. In this video we'll show you how to print return labels
as a borrowing library in WorldShare ILL. So when your patrons are all done with items,
you'll want to mark them as returned in WorldShare ILL. While marking items as returned, you
can check a box for print return labels to add requests to the current return labels
queue. That's the process we want to take a look at it, and we'll switch over to WorldShare
ILL. All my borrowing requests are in this borrowing requests menu on the left. And while
items are with my patrons, they're going to be in this received in use queue.
So let's look at the received in use items. Let's say my patron is done with this item
at the bottom. You can click on the title or ID number to open it up. And then I have
the buttons to mark the item as returned right here. I want to make sure I check the box
for print return labels. So check that box for print return labels. Then click return
item, and that will both mark the item as returned in the system and add the request
to the print return labels queue. Now if I want to return items with batch functionality,
I want to make sure that I'm in the overall received queue, the one with the black font
on the left hand menu. Because when I'm there, there will be a link that says batch return
received items. And I can add multiple items, mark multiple items as returned.
So we can click on these green plus signs from the queue below and that will add the
request up to this batch queue at the top. So I'm just going to mark those three items.
But again, here's that check box for the print return labels. Make sure you check it off
then click on the return items button. And again, you'll get a confirmation that the
items have been marked as returned and that they've been added to the return labels queue.
So I'm going to collapse my borrowing requests menu and now I want to go to the print queue.
So when I click on print queue, it expands. The return labels queue is going to be the
one at the top over here in the left hand menu.
So let's click on it. And here's the return labels queue. There are two sections to it.
There's a list of items at the top and then down below there's a template that corresponds
to the selections that we make above. What I mean by that is there are these check boxes
next to each of these requests. So let's say I want to return these first four items in
my queue. You see when I check off the boxes, the numbers in the template become bold. If
you want to change the format of the template you can do so with the drop down menu over
here in the middle. We surveyed libraries awhile back and they said that the labels
that they most often use are either the thirty per page or six per page. So I'm going to
adjust this to six per page. And then I can change the start position in my template.
Say I had a previous print job where I used up print paper on these first two positions
so I want this print job to start in the third position. I can click on that number three
and you'll see the bolded numbers correspond to where we're going to send the print job
when we send this job to our printer. I can check off these boxes over here on the right
to include some additional information on the labels like return postage guaranteed,
etc.
I can also change the label start position with the box over here. So I can either click
on the template or use this startup label position box. Whenever I'm ready to print
items, I can click on the print button and that will give me a print preview. So here's
an example of one label. Once we have our print preview, it's going to display differently
in different browsers show you may want to look above or below, to the left or the right
of the print preview. And again, to get this print preview you want to make sure you have
Adobe Reader installed so that it will display properly in your browser.
So we click on the print button, and that will open up the printer dialog box and then
we can send this job to our printer. To get rid of the print preview, you can click on
the little red X over here on the left and that will take you back. And then you can
remove items by checking off the boxes and then clicking on the remove button. Items
have to be removed manually from the print queue. If you have any questions or concerns
about this process, feel free to get in touch with us at the information that you see on
the screen. Thanks everyone.
