>> Court: I'm here at Practical Cycle Downtown Sacramento, California. I'm here with Cassidy.
How's it going?
>> Cassidy: Wonderful.
>> Court: And, you know, we're checking out all these different locks. You've got the
OnGuard. This one is, look at that thing, it's huge. You've got the cables. As you know,
when you lock a bike up, it's good to have, you know, kind of a bar through the frame
and then maybe even something through the wheel if you've got quick release wheels.
But what stood out here was this ABUS, sort of a link lock and we've actually got one
here to kind of show off. So how does this work, Cassidy?
>> Cassidy: Well, it just unfolds like that. This one happens to be a combo. Now, the whole
world knows my combo.
>> Court: Oh, no! [laughing]
>> Cassidy: It's pretty straightforward. The really nice thing about these, I don't have
it here, but they have a nice little pouch.
>> Court: Yeah.
>> Cassidy: So they tuck away on the frame of the bike really nice. So that's probably the
number one reason people like these. And it's close to being as secure as a U-lock with
close to the same flexibility as a cable lock.
>> Court: Yeah, okay. So it's kind of the best to both worlds here.
>> Cassidy: Yeah.
>> Court: Yeah, you're getting that enhanced security of the U-lock with some of the flexibility
of a cable and it looks like, I mean, these are, you're paying a little bit more. It's
kind of in the range of some of the chains and stuff. You know, do people have a preference?
Do you see a lot of people coming in and buying locks? Are they price-driven or is there one
where you're like if you don't want your, you know, $3,000 bike stolen, get this one?
>> Cassidy: Well, we generally recommend a U-lock. You know, cables can easily be cut
even a big thick cable like this can rather easily be cut. Well, a lot of people that
buy electric bikes choose the ABUS, or the link locks. They are quite a bit more
expensive but mainly, like I mentioned this, just because they store on the bike easier
and they're a little easier to use.
>> Court: Well, that's the thing, you know, I've had one of these mounted to the frame
of my bike before and it kind of get tipped from side to side, it can hit your knees and
stuff and you're still spending a lot. So, you know, the best way to use a lock is to
have it with you and have it to be flexible and be able to adapt whether at a bike rack
or maybe just a big pole and it seems like the ABUS link locks do a pretty good job of
that. So thank you for the overview.
>> Cassidy: You're welcome.
