Hi. My name is Andrea Rosaker and I'm here to talk to you about one of my paintings here
today. Now please just bare with me as the lighting in this studio isn't so good. So
placed the painting on a rocking chair cos it's the only one thing that I could find
that has the right hight. So bare with me until I get the right kind of equipment and
stuff. The first painting up in the chair here will be this one. It is Who Came First.
To begin with actually I was just playing with a technique which is called gesso. There
are paints that you can but that does this by itself but actually I haven't tried it.
My friend was kind enough to teach me how to do it the cheap way or the original way
actually before artists or before any kind of paints company had come up with an easier
way to do it right!? I've been to an exhibition with a really really great Italian artists
Fillipo Shasha who also leaves here in Bali and he uses a lot of this technique that his
signature style sort of thing, but I really like that I like to play with it. It doesn't
matter if other people have done it. So basically how you do it as my friend told me you have
to be very carful because the way you pour it on, it will stay like that so because I'd
never done it before he said just play around with it and just see what comes out and actually
the other paintings I did before I did this one, so this one is the third one that I did,
so I should;t lie actually haha, but I didn;t have so much of that paint left so I thought,
what can I do with this. Oh yeah..I actually forgot what i did. I was sitting about right
here where I'm standing right now, so that light is above me right, and I see my own
shadow on the canvas and I thought oh o.k so that's an idea, so this is my hair flowing
here and this is like a paint bucket, so that's why I called it who came first. Is it the
paint being poured into my brain or is it actually coming out of me, I don't know, I
guess that's the never changing question for artists, are you an artist or not, are you
supposed to be an artist or not, where does it come from? To get the inspiration, so I
just was playing with this artwork. I kind of like it. Many people don;t understand what
I'm trying to say but I don't really care. So that's it. The painting is for sale online
in our online art auction skaptart.com
