Hello Hello YouTube nation! In this video we're talking about how to run a poll on
Snapchat! I'm Jade, hope you're doing well. Now if you'd like, feel free to subscribe
to my channel and hit that bell notification icon so that you can stay
informed any time I post something new. Alright, so as you surely know you can
run a poll in your Instagram Stories, you can run a poll on Facebook, you can even
run a poll on Twitter. So the question is, can you run a poll in Snapchat? And the
answer is yes you can! Now, polling isn't natively available in Snapchat, it's not
a Snapchat feature, but you can use a third-party app called Polly Polls for
Snapchat and you're good to go, you'll be able to run a poll in your Snapchat. So
let's check out the app right now! Now, the app is available in both the Apple
App Store and on Google Play for those of you using Android. I'll go ahead and
open it up on my iPhone here. Now, you'll notice in the upper left hand corner is
my bitmoji and the reason that that's there is because I have associated my
Snapchat account with the app. So if you don't see your bitmoji there it's
because you have to associate your Snapchat account with the app. And of
course you need a bitmoji. If you don't have one I highly recommend making one,
they are pretty cool. So I will hit the bitmoji and it brings up my profile.
There's three tabs, you'll see 'friends', 'awards', and 'add friends'. Now in this case
friends are those who are also using the Polly Polls for Snapchat app. It's not
your Snapchat friends, it's not your Instagram friends, it's really those who
are using the Polly Polls for Snapchat app. So if you hit the 'add friends' tab
it's going to scour your contact list on your phone and see who else is using the
app and also give you the option to invite those who aren't using it and
invite them to use the app. The awards section is basically the app allows you
to play games and run competitions amongst your friends and so you can gain
awards. Now I don't have any friends in the app
so I don't have any awards and I'm not really sure how that works. If you go
into the upper right corner there's the settings icon and if we go into that
you'll notice that at the very top I've inserted my name. That's where you would
insert your name. Below that is bitmoji, you can see I've inserted my Snapchat
username, so you would insert your Snapchat user name here and it will pull
in your bitmoji, it will import your bitmoji and associate your Snapchat account with
the app. The rest is all just typical general settings, push notifications and
stuff like that, so we won't get into that. We'll go back out to the main
screen and you'll see in the upper right hand corner is the plus icon, the plus
logo, and that's where you go to create your polls. So I'll hit that. Now, we have
a box to insert a poll question. There are two types of polls you can do in
this app. There's what I call opinion open-ended based polling. In other words,
if you put a question like what is your favorite cake and you put answers like
chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, well it's really up to people to decide how
to answer based on their preference or their taste or their opinion. And the
other type of polling is quiz based polling where you set a correct answer.
And so, you know, an example there, I did, was kind of ''how well do you know me?'' Do
I prefer brunettes with their hair up or hair down? And so some folks know me very
well and they answered correctly, some folks don't know me as well and they
answered wrong. And in that case the app tells the person whether they have
answered correctly or whether they answered wrong.
So let's basically do a poll question here really quick, you know, we'll say
''what is your favorite sport?'' Okay, and we'll go next. And you'll see there's
options here, you can put up to four options, so I'll put soccer, and I'll
put basketball, and I'll put baseball, and, that's good enough for now. You'll notice
to the left of each answer is a plus symbol, if you hit that it allows you to
insert an emoji. Now in this case I would look at the sports emojis, so for soccer
I would put a soccer ball, for the basketball I would put a basketball and
so on and so forth. It just makes it a little more interesting a little more
colourful. You'll also notice in the emoji section
is a pregenerated list of celebrities, and so that's good for questions like
who's your favorite actor? Who should win the Oscar? Who's the best singer? And so
if you hit any of these options for example if I select Justin Bieber it's
going to insert his face, or his bitmoji if you will, into the answer. And it's gonna
insert his name automatically. So that's pretty cool. Above that is where your
friends would be. In my case I don't have any friends as I was saying earlier, in
the app, I have friends in life, but just not in the app. So I'm the only one
showing there right now. But what that would be good for is if you want to run
polls among, amongst friends. So for example who's the best player on our
basketball team? Who's the best looking amongst us? Who has the nicest hair? And
then you could, you know, list friends and have people vote that way. So if you were
to do a quiz based poll where there is a correct answer, you'll notice to the
right of the answers is a little circle, you just hit the one that is the correct
answer and you'll see a green check mark and
that selects it as the correct answer, so then when people vote they'll be told
whether they got it right or got it wrong. Before I go forward I'm gonna go
back to where we create the poll and you'll notice below the question box
on the bottom right hand corner there's a little dice icon, kind of a
roll the dice. If you hit that it will auto-generate a poll question
for you, so that's a kind of an easy quick way to get a poll going or if you're out
of ideas, and in some cases it will also auto-generate the list of answers. And of
course you can edit that list to your liking, depending on the question, some
questions they can't generate a list, you really have to go and input the answers
yourself, but that's kind of a neat feature if ever you're looking for a
quick and easy way to make a poll. So, now that we have our poll ready to go and we
have our answers ready to go, we'll hit next, and here we can kind of spice it up
a bit, you know, choose a colour that we like, so I'll choose red. And we'll hit
'Create'. It creates the poll. Now you'll notice at
the bottom here there's an icon for sharing, it brings up the share-sheet so
you can share your poll by text message, you can share it by email, etc. There's
also the Snapchat icon, so if we hit that it automatically opens Snapchat because
earlier in the settings we had associated our snapchat account with the
app. So it opens Snapchat, now I can take a new snap for example, there we go, I
just took a snap of myself. And then I will add the poll by adding the link. Or
I can even go into my Memories and choose an old snap and edit it and
then add the poll, add the link, to that snap. So in this case, again, I'll just do
a brand new snap. I'll hit the 'add link' button, and because we were sharing the
poll from the app to Snapchat it's, you know, sent it through the clipboard so
there it is right at the top. I'll just hit that and it brings up the poll.
'Attach to Snap', there it is, it's attached. But that's the thing with
Snapchat is it's not evident that there's a poll. It's not like Instagram
Stories where it's, you know, on the screen. It's not like Twitter where you
see it's an actual poll. So you have to bring people's attention to
the fact that there's a poll there. So you know, one way of doing that is to
write ''swipe up'' on the screen or even go into your Snapchat and look for the
''swipe up'' sticker by just typing swipe. There we go, swipe, and you can even write,
you know, ''poll'', you know, ''answer this poll'', and just generate some interest and then
people will swipe up, they'll answer the poll. Anytime that somebody answers the
Polly Polls for Snapchat app will send you a notification so you can, you know,
keep checking the results. I'll mention this: it is anonymous, so anybody who
votes, you don't know who's voted. All you see is that somebody has voted, you see
the numbers changing. You can send your poll as a snap to somebody individually.
and you know, invite them to come and answer it. But in most cases you'd be
putting this in your public story, so it would stay there for 24 hours, people
would vote during that time, and then once your story has expired, once that
snap disappears, well, you can go into the Polly Polls for Snapchat app and look
at your polls, hit the 'View Results' button, and you'll see at the very bottom
is 'Share Results'. So hit that, it brings up a new screen with a little bit of a,
you know, animated confetti and what not, and below that is another button for
'Share', and then you can save that image to your camera roll and then share it in
Snapchat to show people the results. So that's pretty much it, pretty fun! I find
it's a great way to increase engagement, it's a great way to, you know, add some
interaction to Snapchat, very interactive, it's a kind of a call to action, you know.
So if people are just kind of like, scrolling through stories in autopilot
zombie mode it kind of gives them something to do, you know, makes things a
little more interesting. And you can get answer, answers to questions, you know,
that you may have, you know, see how people are feeling, see how the majority
votes. So pretty cool! Polly Polls for Snapchat. I definitely recommend trying
it out. And on that note, I'll say this: is that speaking of Snapchat, I have a pair
of Snapchat Spectacles here and I'm going to be doing a YouTube video all
about these very soon and that's why you should subscribe and hit that bell
notification icon so that you will be notified when I post a video about the
Snapchat Spectacles. Other than that I hope you liked this video. Give it a
thumbs up, maybe even two. Leave any questions or comments down below, it will be
my pleasure to answer them. And on that, again, thanks for watching, as I always
say: rock and roll!
