Hi, my name is Sheryl McGlochlin with CrazySheryl.com, and welcome to ExpertVillage.com. We're talking
about going outdoors and enjoying being able to go for a walk or hike in the winter months,
even in the coldest time in the winter months. Let me just tell you a couple of other really
important things that you should always have with you. I always carry some type of a cell
phone, if you end up having problems, or you see something that you need to call someone
on, especially if you're starting to have problems. This even works really well with
me up in the mountains, which is really fantastic; in lots of spots it will work up in the mountains.
I always, always take water. And I like to take a healthy snack, either some trail mix
or I make my freshly ground whole wheat chocolate chip cookies. Always having some kind of a
food item that is a good healthy item is a great thing to do. Again, this would also
work in an emergency situation. If you got in the habit of always carrying food, some
kind of food and water with you and you did get stranded and you had to walk, you would
always have good food and water with you. And, sometimes again, the gloves don't work.
I have these really nice warm mittens that I keep with me, so if it's really cold, my
hands will not warm up, you can wear some mittens, which are much, much warmer. And
that's another couple of ideas for staying warm and heading outdoors in the winter.
