Do you have stale bread at home?
This is one of the great ways to use left-over bread.
First, in a mixing bowl,
add in olive oil,
2 tablespoons,
and ½ teaspoon of garlic powder,
and ½ teaspoon basil (dried).
You can also use any mixture of herbs you like, oregano, parsley, etc.
and a pinch of salt.
And stir to combine.
Now heat a frying pan over medium heat.
And transfer the bread which is cut in cubes
into the (olive) oil mixture.
And stir to coat the bread evenly.
It’s fine.
Now transfer the bread into the pan
and toast, stirring occasionally.
When making croûtons over stovetop,
it's very important to use stale bread.
If your bread is not stale enough, hard enough,
then it's better to dry your bread cubes in the oven
for 5-10 minutes
before browning in the pan.
Voila.
They are nice and brown.
You can store croûtons in an air-tight container for about 1 week.
Bon appetit!
Mm.. I like it.
Bye!
