As faculty, we're involved with the art show,
"Ripple Effects".
Which basically is meant to inspire "ripples"
that would probably impact the community
with discovering new things and find out what we have to offer.
Sooner or later, our ideas
will cause a ripple effect to one another,
perhaps into a system and influence their thinking.
We feel it's important for students to understand
what we're doing, contributing back to the program,
the educational aspect, the community, and the University.
The pencil is the artist's tool.
So I was playing with the idea of how we make marks
on a piece of paper as an artist.
Now, with technology, the marks are made online,
such as Twitter for example.
We tweet and that makes our mark online
for everyone to see.
So I thought if the sharpener could talk online,
what would it say, using Twitter
since it posts tweets automatically.
So the sharpener behind me
automatically publishes its tweets itself,
transferring its thoughts to Twitter.
We hope that the community inside
and outside of Gallaudet have the opportunity
to come visit our cool and beautiful gallery
that has 2,500 square feet with hard wood floors.
People are always in awe when they stop by.
It's always nice to meet new people to build a network
that builds bridges and to raise awareness
between our community here and the outside community.
