For this field cooking event, I think that it is very meaningful because for many of
them, it is really the first time. Field cooking, for many people as it is, it is a
camping experience. But for our Living on the Very Edge youth camp, field cooking
is actually one of the components for every one challenges of youth camp to
actually experience what it is like to live on limited variety of food, like right now
we are having instant noodles and like canned food, the really basic canned food
like baked beans. So through this, everyone would have a taste of living on
the very edge as it is because cooking like that is not very comfortable but
through this we learn so much more.
Actually it doesn't taste very good, but because we cook it ourselves, so there's
a special meaning to it.
Its like cooking in the army,
like in the army.
When we came into this camp, I've had to withstand a lot of my cravings, because
after I started the camp, I had a lot of fast food cravings out of nowhere, especially
when we are doing missions, the programmes, we walked past a lot of fast
food chains, and when we walked past those fast food chains, the smell of the
food just kept blowing into my nose, and when I smelt (the food), its very hard to
resist.
We can still eat (the fast food) after the camp. But for the poor, throughout their
whole life, they may want to eat something, but they don't really get the
chance to. I will try to persevere and take up the challenge to eat lesser fast food
and control my cravings.
