Now Kai Immonen will teach dog pulling with the kickbike to Nova and Tito
So now the plan is to try dog pulling since you were interested in trying it
Yes! So what sort of equipment is needed for pulling?
First of all the dog needs to have a fitting and comfortable harness,
and a flexible pulling cord
Ok, here we have two different kickbike models
and to start off we could try out this model that is the favourite of
beginners and smaller people, the Kickbike Freeride
Its frame is a little bit smaller than the frame of this Cross MAX model
It's a real pro model with front suspension and tires with a good grip
and a bigger rear tire that rolls nicely over obstacles
But we're gonna ride both of them and you can decide which one you like more
Both are going to be equipped with a front facing dog pulling adapter
The adapter needs to face forward so the leash can't get tangled in the wheel
If the leash is loose that could happen without the adapter
and if that would happen it would be quite a rough ride
So the idea now is to start with short distances
Starting with a 100 metre stint and maybe switching to 200 meters later
We'll do a few repetitions where we take a desired object 100m away,
which in Tito's case is a ball,
but it might as well could be a treat or the dog's other owner and so on
Let's give this a try then
If you could just now take the ball 100m away and try to excite Tito
So which model did you like more?
Well the Freeride felt agile and a little lighter, but
this one felt more sturdier and I think I would pick it out of the two
-Well if you really want to go fast the Cross MAX is the best choice
So how do we continue training from now on?
Well, this is it for now
We got a few good pulling excercises done
and it's important to remember to stop when the dog is still having fun
So we'll stop now
So how do I make the pulling excercise distances longer?
-Well, little by little you just take the ball further and further
and a good trick to use is to have an experienced dog with another kickbiker,
which is fun for your dog to chase
So those are the kinds of things you need to remember to advance in this sport
