Hello, the next step is to set up your Notifications that you'll receive via email or through your
mobile device or through text messaging. Here's a video tutorial that you're watching, and
what we're going to do is to go up into the right-hand side of the screen and we're going
to click the down arrow in our Global Navigation Menu. Here, we're going to look for the Settings
area and click on Settings. When we click on Settings, we're going to look for Edit
Notification Settings and click that.
Here, we have a choice to edit our Notification Settings by the course or for all courses
you are taking or teaching. I'm going to do a bulk notification setting, and I'm going
to select the courses that I'm teaching. I'm going to select all of them together. In the
Notifications Dashboard, my mobile device I've set up through Blackboard Mobile, I have
my email that was downloaded from the system, and I also have my cell phone number for my
text messaging.
In section three, Settings, this is the most important area that you need to pay attention.
This is where you can look at a Notification that comes out from Blackboard Learn and decide
how you would like to receive the message. Do you want to receive it on your Notifications
Dashboard, or on your mobile device as a pop-up? You also could receive it as an email, as
a text message, or a text-to-voice. Here, if your cell phone number is added in, you'll
notice that there is no text messaging or text-to-voice due to some carriers that will
charge you for receiving a text message. So if an announcement becomes available, and
you would like to receive an email and a text message, you can just click where you would
like to receive it. If you do not want to receive a mobile, you can un-check that mobile
push Notification.
As you can see, there are a lot of Notifications that Blackboard Learn will send you. What
you need to do is to go through each one and decide how you would like to receive a Notification,
if any. So you'll get it through your Dashboard, through your mobile device, through email
-- your Qmail or staff and faculty email. If you've got your mobile number in here,
you can get a text message; you can also get a text-to-voice. After you have selected how
you would like to receive Notifications, you can click Submit.
This is for Bulk Notifications. You can also set this for each course, one-by-one, so that
you may want to get when an item is due -- you can click and get an email for just one course.
So again, this is Notification Settings. If we go to our name, we hit the drop down; we
can look under Settings, and then look for Edit Notification Settings to come to this
general area where we can notify courses that you are taking or teaching, and you can edit
individual course settings for Notifications.
