Lindsay: Hello, welcome to Spread the Love, and this week we are talking about Oddball.
Oddball is a vignette play which is a celebration of the odd -- odd socks, odd jobs, odd boyfriends,
odd man out. It is an oddball overama. And I'm really happy to be talking about Oddball,
but right now we're at the FATE Conference, the Florida Association of Theatre Educators,
and it was one year ago to this conference, to this date here in Florida, I had a wonderful
conversation with Deb Barnun, who was the original director for the very first production
of Oddball. And it was just a really joyful conversation about all the amazing and fun
things that she was trying with the show, with her students.
I love plays and I love that we provide plays that students and teachers can enjoy. You
know, there's lots we can do with theatre and education and Shakespeare and literature
and learning, but sometimes there's just a wonderful feeling of doing a play that is
joyful. And I love that we have a play like Oddball where students and teachers can have
fun with it, and that there are opportunities for actors with experience, but also for an
actor who's never stepped onstage, and they can have the time of their life.
That's what Oddball is. It is full of joy. It's very odd, but full of joy all the same.
That's it for Spread the Love.
