Career assessments are often
the best place to start when
making career choices such as
choosing a major, exploring
occupations and determining a
career plan.
The University Career Center
offers four career assessments
to assist you with your career
planning.
FOCUS a self directed career
and educational planning tool,
Strengths Quest, the Strong
Interest Inventory and Do What
You Are.
When taking a career
assessment find a relaxed
setting where you are able to
concentrate and you will not be
interrupted.
Remember there are no right or
wrong answer to the questions
just your personal preferences.
Take the test quickly going
with your first inclination to
each question.
After completing the Strong
and DWYA please call the
University Career Center at
864-3624 to schedule an
appointment with a career coach
who will review your results
with you.
If you are taking the
Strengths Quest or FOCUS, your
results will be released to you
immediately.
Your are strongly encouraged
to follow up with a career
coach to help you understand
how to use this information in
those reports to enhance your
career plan.
During the follow-up meeting
the career coach will work with
you to help you understand how
best to take full advantage of
the information contained in
the reports.
They will work with you to
create an action plan to help
you navigate your options and
resources at KU.
Finally it is important to
remember that no career
assessment will tell you what
you are going to do with the
rest of your life.
However, they are wonderful
ways to get started with your
career planning.
