Cal State Monterey Bay has stressed the importance of community service and participation.
This fall, students can conserve their community by taking three fundamental steps: Register
to vote, inform yourself on the issue, and cast your ballot. \
\ CSSA, which is the California State Student
Association, have really been pushing for getting students to vote. Because while it's
important to vote, you can't vote if your not registered. So, we've really been aiming
to get students registered to vote. A lot of students have issues on the ballot because
there's a home address section, there's a mailing address section, there's "do I vote
by mail or the polling place?" So we really just wanted to get students as informed as
possible about how to register and how to register correctly, so that students that
want to can actively participate in our democracy and vote on November the 6th. \
\ I'm voting because I believe in education
and I believe that we need to make sure eduction is affordable and attainable to people.
I'm voting because I am a college student
and I want to see the budgets go down for tuition.
This is my first time voting as well, I use
to against voting, but now I finally see the light In voting I guess. I think it's really
important for people to at least give it a chance, it doesn't take that long to look
at things that affect you, your family, and your friends. I think it's important to at
least give a shot.
It's really important for college students to vote because there are some laws and propositions
that directly affect college students as well as tuition rates, fee increase, and things
of that matter. So it's really important for students to actually know what the propositions
mean and what exactly they are voting on. Students also make a huge percentage of the
voting population here in the United States so it's important for students to get aware.
Coming as I do from a country, in which many time citizen were deprived for the right to
vote by succession of the army, that voting is a precious right.
If you don't believe voting is important,
one vote can change everything. One vote change whether your paying one hundred and fifty
dollars more in your tuition, one vote can effect whether the death penalty is outlawed
in the United States. You have to think about these things as far as voting. If you don't
think voting is important, if you don't have the right to vote, then you have no rights
at all.
